About Vancouver |
|
| Hi,
my name is Jenavieve. I am ten years old. I guess that makes
me a seasoned veteran when it comes to going on Find Family Fun activities.
I’m not going to lie. Going out with my family (especially my two
annoying brothers) is not always a chocolate ice-cream cone. Sometimes
it’s fantastic (better than our wildest dreams), sometimes it’s so-so,
and sometimes I wish I’d stayed home.
But the funny thing is, when I think back on all our outings I only remember being happy. I think that’s because you remember feelings better than events. Mom says what’s really important is not where we go, but the fact we did something together as a family. Dad says that’s why he never takes us to the expensive places. Yah right Dad! Anyway, going places together is not the same as watching TV together. Things happen. Like one time Nathan nearly knocked his front teeth out. I’ll never forget that. We were playing tag and I was IT. Nathan was running away from me and he ran right into a monkey bar. We had to take him to the emergency and everything. I remember feeling really sorry for Nathan. That would never happen in front of your TV set. Now that Nathan and I are older, we don’t go on as many family outings as before. There isn’t much time left over after we’ve played all our sports. Plus Nate is a teenager now, and sometimes he “has plans.” But you know what, I know he feels bad later, because he always asks us what we did, and if we had fun. Dad says when you’re a teenager your friends are king; but when it comes down to it, it’s really your family that matters most. I know when I have my own family, I’m taking them on all the same outings we went on—well, maybe minus a few. I think I’ve seen enough bogs in my lifetime. And I bet I’ll probably see Nathan and Coleman while I’m at it. Enjoy your time together,
