Activity:
The Apple Farm in the Chilliwack area has dwarf trees that yield 25 varieties
of apples. You can wander through the orchard, or take a guided tour.
We haven't visited The Apple Farm yet, but
plan to soon since our family loves apples.
Here's a great review passed on to us from
Mrs. Hunter:
Since you have not had the opportunity
to visit the Apple Farm, here are some highlights from our recent visit.
I went to The Apple Farm with my son's school
group last week (Sept. 21) and was very impressed! The tour ($5 child
$4 adult) was great! The farmer took us around the orchard on the
"Orchard Express". The kids loved bouncing and going around the corners.
We learned SO much about apples and even got to sample one right from the
tree! Back at the main building, we were shown how the apples are
sorted and stored. The kids really enjoyed checking out the pie freezer,
the cooler, and guessing how long it would take our tour guide to peel,
core, and slice an apple. When we got to the store, we were greeted
by the intoxicating aroma of freshly baked apple pie. The adults
were treated to samples of hot apple cider, while the kids checked out
the children's play area. The children made their way outside to
the playground/picnic area while the parents finished shopping. Our group
cleaned them out of freshly baked apple pies! To top off the trip,
each child was given a "loot bag" of fresh apples to take home. We
spent about 90 minutes at the farm. The children had a great time,
but I think the adults had as much fun as the kids! This destination
was definitely a winner in my books!
Some things to note:
The store does not accept debit or credit cards
There is a bank machine in Yarrow, about 3 min.
from the farm.
Port-a-potties are located throughout the orchard
A very child-friendly environment
Picnic area has one large picnic table, benches,
a gazebo with small table and chairs, plus lawn chairs.
Tours are available year round, but must be
pre-booked.
