North Vancouver Community Arts Council presents
Sibeal Foyle
District Library Gallery
Lynn Valley Main Library, 1277 Lynn Valley Road, North Vancouver
Bringing together elements of emotion, introspection and reflection, Sibeal's paintings deal with themes of emigration, the fragility of our environment, and the transitional and reflective symbol of water. Weaving together stories based on personal experiences, Sib?al melds formal painting concerns with a flair for colour, exuberant compositions and imagination.
Sib?al is an artist and educator who has lived on the North Shore since 1987. Born and raised in Ireland, she comes from a rich tradition of oral history and storytelling. Her work investigates many aspects of life but is primarily inspired by events that impact her family and community on a local and global level.

Pee-wee's Big Adventure // Cinema Sunday @ The Cinematheque
$6 Children & Youths / $9 Adults
ALL AGES WELCOME! Paul Reubens's lovable alter ego made the jump from stage show to screen with this gleefully bizarre, cross-America comedy that announced the arrival of both a major comic talent in the Buster Keaton-esque Reubens, and the quirky-goth vision of feature-debut director Tim Burton. A retelling of Bicycle Thieves by way of well, Pee-wee Herman, the film follows Pee-wee and his doting friend Dottie as they try to track down his cherished stolen bicycle, snatched and then sold by a neighbourhood nemesis. Brimming with unforgettable did-I-just-see-that moments (Large Marge anyone), Pee-wee's Big Adventure is outrageous family fun for adult-kids and kid-kids alike. "A one-comic masterpiece" (Empire).
Before the screening, acclaimed clowns James & Jamesy will treat moviegoers to an excerpt from their award-winning theatrical comedy High Tea (playing at the Jericho Arts Centre, May 18-24). After the movie, they'll share the story of how they created their clown characters and lead participants in a funny-face-making exercise. For more on James & Jamesy, visit www.jamesandjamesy.com.

When you have muscular dystrophy, your muscles say stop, but your mind says go.
The Walk for Muscular Dystrophy is a fun family-oriented community event to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Canada, a Canadian charity. The Walk is a fun community event with Fire Fighters, free food, games and more! We invite you to come join us at the Burnaby Walk and help support the 50,000 Canadians affected by muscular dystrophy. The funds raised by the Walk for Muscular Dystrophy provide essential mobility equipment for our families, help us provide ongoing support, and fund leading research towards a cure.  https://muscle.akaraisin.com/walk2015/

Kid's Meditation, Sundays 10-11:15 am
All parents wish for their children to be happy. In an uncertain and busy world, children and parents need a place to go together to learn how to develop harmony, confidence and methods to help calm our minds and strengthen our families. The Kid?s Meditation Class is designed for children ages 4 to 11.  We learn about giving, sharing and loving everyone. Activities include a spiritual topic, story time and arts and crafts. Classes are taught by experienced Dharma practitioners. Parents are welcome to stay with the children or enjoy Prayers for World Peace being offered in the adjacent meditation room. There is no charge for this class.  Donations are accepted but not expected.  Kadampa Meditation Centre Vancouver, https://kmcvancouver.org/
