We were looking for the Fort-to-Fort Trail, and got lost. But serendipity led us across a green bridge to Brae Island, where we in the process of looking for a washroom, discovered the Tavistock Trail. It parallels the banks of the Fraser River, and is about 4 km to the viewpoint and back. The trail is flat, so it’s perfect for seniors like us and kids on bikes or scooters. We even came across a group of senior men who were all looking good on their electric bikes. Just after we reached Tavistock Point, the weather took a turn, and we found ourselves in the midst of a downpour. Luckily the tree canopy saved us from looking like drowned rats, because we still had Fort Langley to explore. The whole outing was unplanned, with one thing leading to another, which is what, as seniors, means something.
