Stroll down Main Street - Vancouver

Okay, being honest, I’m not big on Main Street, but, my wife is. I know what you’re thinking, co-dependency; and okay, I’ll give you that, but then we’ve been married for nearly 40 years, who isn’t at that point.

So, getting straight to the point, what I like is reading the rude cards at Yum Ice-cream; beyond that, nothing else matters. My wife, on the other hand is a whole different kettle of fish. Her all-time favorite shop is Bohemia Gallery Inc. According to Mary, it’s the only true vintage shop in Vancouver, and she’s been looking at vintage stuff for 60+ years, although she’ll never admit it. So far she’s bought four ruffle blouses at Bohemia and is still asking me to take her back for more. Go figure Lucille Ball.

The newest addition to Mary’s wish list is Lucky’s Books and Comics. I blame it on my son, who got her hooked. The thing is my two kids who are still living at home are Pokémon Card Collectors, and Mary is a people pleaser, and Lucky’s Books and Comics, oddly enough, sells Pokémon cards at a cheaper price than most other stores. Enough said.

On the same outing, Coleman also took Mary into a LP shop, which, depending on what neighbourhood you’re in, can be hard to find. The first thing I heard when they got back home was, she found an Al Green LP that she’d never seen before. As you might’ve guessed Al Green is her all time favourite recording artist, so thumbs up for Red Cat Record Store.

I can also vouch for the restaurant scene on Main Street. Mary and I had lunch at Britannia Brewing, and it met up to her standards, which is saying something. Also she took our son to Yum Yai Thai Food, at his request, which she now wants to take me to, so it must be half-decent.

The point is these are only a handful of places we have gone to; but Main Street is full of fun stuff to do, and these are just the tip of the iceberg.
